windows vista build 5384 4 asus p5wd2 premium alc882 hd

Windows Vista Build 5384.4, Asus P5WD2 Premium & ALC882 HD A

I have an Asus P5WD2 Premium motherboard that incorporates the ALC882 HD audio codec, i have tried installing the last (5254) and latest (5265) beta drivers downloaded from the Realtek website for Windows Vista Beta, i have also tried the Windows XP drivers (1.37, 1.38 & 1.39). The problem i am having is when i install any of the ALC882 HD drivers my USB keyboard locks up (stops responding) at the Windows logon screen , even if i restart the system, also my USB mouse sometimes has the same problem. If i restart the system in to safe mode my keyboard works fine but stops responding again once i boot back in to normal Windows mode, if i uninstall or disable the Realtek controller from device manager in Windows safe mode then my keyboard starts to work normally again, this issue is not pressent with Windows XP Pro/Home, this is a Windows Vista only issue. Can anyone shed some light on this issue and also is this a known problem or is it just me with this issue? I have listed below any system specs that may be relevent, bios version, and drivers that have been tested to try and solve this issue. Asus P5WD2 Premium (BIOS 0709) (INTEL INF 8.0.1.1002 & MICROSOFT VISTA DRIVERS) Intel Pentium D 930 Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X1024A-5400UL (TOTAL 2.00GB) BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC 256MB (NVIDIA VISTA 88.61 & MICROSOFT VISTA DRIVERS) Western Digital Raptor WD740GD X2 (MICROSOFT VISTA DRIVERS) Plextor DVDR PX-716A X2 (MICROSOFT VISTA DRIVERS) Saitek Eclipse Illuminated Keyboard USB (MICROSOFT VISTA DRIVERS) Logitech UltraX Mouse USB (MICROSOFT VISTA DRIVERS) Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Same mainboard and bios. And same problem with Logitech cordless desktop mx and I try the same combination of drivers with no success. Hernan Vega.

I have the P5DL2 keyboard, which is similar to the P5WD2, and had the same problems with the 64-bit version of Vista Beta 2. After my FOURTH attempt at installing the OS, I was finally able to install the audio drivers I used in XP Professional x64. The mouse and keyboard did stop responding initially, but after some plugging and unplugging of the USB connector, I got both to work!
You guys may want to try that.
